7 Reasons Why You Should Consider a Trip to Africa

When it comes to places on this wonderful planet of ours, there really is nothing quite like Africa. Due to its huge size and the number of different countries found on the continent (54, but the exact amount depends on the person that you are asking), there is something for everyone. In my opinion, the fact that nobody can even agree how many countries make up the continent is really cool in itself. Okay, you can go on adventures on any continent, but nothing can match what Africa offers. Below I am going to discuss some of the main reasons why you should take it upon yourself to pay Africa a visit.

You Will See Sunsets That You Won't Believe Are Real

Sunsets, wherever you are in the world are truly beautiful, but believe me when I say that the sunsets that you can see in Africa are out of this world. In fact, once you have experienced a sunset in Africa, all other sunsets that you will see from then on will be pretty underwhelming if truth be told. You might not believe me now, but I know this will all change when you see your first African sunset.

Sunrises Are Staggering Too

The sunsets are breathtaking, and the sunrises are just as beautiful. In order to witness a sunrise in Africa you will have to get up really early (even earlier the further from the equator you are). This might be hard to begin with, but you will soon get used to it and getting up early is the best time to see some of the wonderful wildlife that Africa has to offer. Which actually leads me to my next point.

Magnificent Wildlife

Africa, it is fair to say, is home to some of the world’s most magnificent wildlife. A trip to Africa is not complete without a safari to see the Big 5 - lion, leopard, rhino, elephant, and buffalo. Along with these, you also have other great animals such as giraffes, hyenas, antelope, African hunting dogs, cheetahs, warthogs, vultures, crocodiles, and hippos. If you love your animals, then Africa truly is the place you need to visit.

Friendly Locals

One of the best reasons to visit Africa is to interact with its wonderful people. Their openness, friendliness, and generosity truly put many Europeans to shame and travelers to this continent soon come to realise that African people truly understand the key values of being a human. It irritates me a bit when people call Africa a developing country. In a lot of ways, Africa is a developed country and the modern world that we are said to live in has become over-developed. Don’t believe me, well visit Africa and meet its people and your view will change pretty quickly.

Adventure is Waiting

You will be able to find adventure wherever you go in Africa - whether you visit ancient ruins, go on a safari, or go scuba diving in the Indian Ocean. However, there are many other ways to get a huge adrenaline rush. For example, you can jump off a cliff beside Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe or you can do a bit of white-water rafting down some of the biggest rivers in the world. The list of adrenaline-filled activities that you can do in Africa is pretty endless.

The Food is Really Good

when you think of Africa, the first thing that you think about will probably not be great food. However, you would be surprised to hear that Africa is a paradise for lovers of food. When you visit you will be amazed by the variety of delicious food that is on offer all over the place - from fine dining restaurants to roadside chop bars to everything else in between. Your opinion of African food will change the moment the first mouthful passes your lips.

You Can Take a Break from Modern Life

Modern life can be a bit of a drag from time and a trip to Africa will help you get away from it all. You can put that phone way, forget about checking your emails, that annoying commute to work and so on. You will find yourself adapting to a new way of life quite quickly and will feel better for it. Taking a cruise on Lake Malawi and watching fish eagles feed is as far as you can get from sitting in traffic at 7.15am.
